Congratulations to PCTI Student of the Month Arian Pashtuniar!
Arian is a motivated student in PCTI’s School of Construction Technology, where he studies Carpentry and has developed his skills through hands-on learning. He enjoys the opportunity to take concepts introduced in the classroom and apply them directly in the shop while working with a variety of materials.
Being named PCTI’s September Student of the Month recognizes Arian’s strong academic performance and involvement in the school community. His dedication to his studies is reflected in his 4.2 GPA.
“I chose Carpentry because I enjoy taking what we learn in the classroom and using it hands-on in the shop, where we get to experience building with many different materials,” Arian shared. The experience has allowed him to strengthen his practical skills while learning how classroom instruction can be applied to real-world projects.
Beyond his CTE program, Arian is involved in the Muslim Student Association and currently serves as a member of its board. Through that role, he has an opportunity to contribute to the school community while developing his leadership skills and working alongside his peers.
Arian also stays busy outside of PCTI by working at a restaurant. His job has given him firsthand insight into the day-to-day operations of a business and what goes into keeping a restaurant running.
After high school, Arian plans to attend a four-year university and earn a degree in mechanical engineering. His experience in Carpentry, along with his interest in building and problem-solving, has helped shape the direction he hopes to pursue in the future.
This year’s theme, “Embrace the Moment,” serves as an important reminder for Arian to remain focused on the present. “To me, ‘Embrace the Moment’ means not getting too fixated on the past or worrying about the future, but rather focusing on what is going on in the present,” he said. “For me, it can be easy at times to worry about the future or my goals, so I find that taking it one step at a time and focusing on what we have right now is very beneficial.”

Andrew is a driven student in PCTI STEM’s Academy of Engineering, where his interest in creating, building, and solving problems has continued to grow. He was drawn to engineering because of the opportunity to take an idea and turn it into something tangible, combining creativity with technical skill.
Being named PCTI STEM’s September Student of the Month recognizes Andrew’s strong academic performance and involvement throughout the school community. His dedication in the classroom is reflected in his impressive 4.3 GPA.
Andrew credits his interest in engineering in part to his father, who has always had a talent for fixing things around the house and finding creative solutions to problems. Seeing how an idea could be transformed into something real confirmed that engineering was the right path for him. “What I love most about it is how you can take an idea in your head and bring it to fruition,” Andrew shared.
Beyond the classroom, Andrew is involved in several academic and extracurricular organizations. He is a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, PCCC, Robotics, SkillsUSA, and STEM League, giving him opportunities to expand his interests and stay actively involved in the PCTI STEM community.
After high school, Andrew plans to attend college and ultimately earn a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Along with pursuing his educational and career goals, he hopes to continue experiencing new opportunities and making the most of what life has to offer.
That outlook is also reflected in what this year’s theme, “Embrace the Moment,” means to him. “To me personally, ‘Embrace the Moment’ means making the most of the opportunities, people, and experiences that are in your life right now, rather than focusing on the past or worrying about what’s happening in the future,” he said. “Life goes fast, and you should make the most of it.”

Carla is an outstanding student in PCTI’s School of Education and Human Services, where her interest in working with children has grown through meaningful classroom and hands-on experiences. She values the opportunity to build relationships with students while learning how educators and human service professionals can make a positive impact in their lives.
Being named PCTI’s September Student of the Month recognizes Carla’s academic achievement and active involvement throughout the school community. Her commitment to her education is reflected in her impressive 4.14 GPA.
“I chose Education and Human Services because I want to work with children,” Carla shared. “What I enjoy most is having the opportunity to volunteer at schools, create relationships with the students in my classroom, and know that I am contributing to their growth.” Those experiences have reinforced her interest in pursuing a career centered on helping children.
Carla is highly involved both at PCTI and outside of school. She is a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, SkillsUSA, Future Educators Association, Student Council, and Book Club. She also serves as a student ambassador for the School of Education and Human Services and helps teach children’s classes at her church.
After high school, Carla plans to attend college and study exercise physiology with the goal of becoming an occupational therapist. She hopes to work with children with special needs and disabilities, continuing to build on the experiences that have shaped her interests throughout high school.

Adrian, a senior in PCTI’s Academy of Finance, is a key member of the Varsity Boys Soccer Team, bringing skill, determination, and experience to the field as a striker. He also competes with Cedar Stars Bergen, where he plays midfield and continues to develop his game at the club level.
In his free time, Adrian enjoys playing soccer and video games. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level while studying finance. Adrian is excited about the team’s potential this season and believes their hard work can take them far. “I thought it was going to be a tough season, but we got a couple of new players and everyone has worked really hard,” he said. “I think we can go far this year—counties, states, everything.”
Adrian credits his coaches, teammates, and parents for helping shape him both as a player and as a person. He also expressed his appreciation for the club coaches and teammates who have supported him throughout the years.

PCTI Video Production juniors won big! 🎬🏒 Their documentary Dem Bulldogs earned first place in the Record High’s Rock Report Sports Feature competition... landing them behind-the-scenes access with Devils broadcaster Matthew Loughlin and the team’s players. They had the opportunity to film and interview Matt Loughlin about his career as a sports broadcaster, and shadowed him in the while he interviewed players in the Devil's locker room. Their final edit from today’s trip will air on the Jumbotron at the Devils’ March 8th game during Kids Weekend!
On Thursday, January 29th, PCTI STEM students competed against 9 other schools: Northern Highlands, Bernards, Mahwah, Westwood, Waldwick, Paramus, Bloomfield, Ramsey, and Springfield. Students where presented with an engineering problem that day and had just a few hours to brainstorm, research, complete physics problems, design, build and test a prototype as well as present to a panel of judges. PCTI STEM won 2nd place, just short 1 point from 1st place.

Proud moment for PCTVS
Ethan Naji, a Senior in PCTI STEM’s Computer Science program, is recognized as Athlete of the Month. A dedicated fencer and the Boys Sabre Captain, Ethan has been fencing for more than four years and competes year-round, including club fencing. This season, he’s been a consistent force, currently undefeated in the regular season and continues to build on an impressive competitive record.
Ethan’s favorite moment this year came during the team’s opener match, a rivalry showdown that went down to the wire. With the score tied 13–13 and the match decided by the first to reach 14, the team pulled off a hard-earned win after years of coming up short. For Ethan, that pressure-filled finish captured everything that makes the sport rewarding.
In school, Ethan is involved in the National Honor Society for STEM, the World Language Honor Society, and Engineering Club. Outside of competition, he also gives back to the sport as a coach at his fencing club, teaching beginner-level athletes. When he’s not fencing, he’s usually focused on school, gaming, or playing guitar.
Ethan credits his success to his parents, coaches, and teammates, and next year he plans to major in computer engineering.

Audrey Yi, a Senior in PCTI’s STEM Academy of Biomedical Life and Sciences, is January’s Athlete of the Month. A varsity fencing starter (foil), Audrey helped drive a standout year that included placing 12th in the state for Girls Foil, contributing to the Girls Fencing Team’s County Championship, and helping the Girls Foil Team earn second place in districts.

The results were exciting, including a second-place overall finish and Audrey advancing to states, but what stood out most was the team-wide encouragement during challenging meets. She also credited her teammates—upperclassmen and underclassmen alike—along with her coaches and family for supporting her throughout the season.
Outside of school fencing, Audrey stays active through masters fencing and training with GFA Club Fencing, and she also participates in cross country and track & field. In addition, she serves as President of the World Language Honor Society, is involved in National Honor Society, FBLA, and HOSA, and is Co-Director of a nonprofit organization, Wayne Grounded. She’s also part of NJROTC as Head of Operations and participates in Color Guard and Drill Team.
Looking ahead, Audrey plans to pursue a pre-med track in college, with goals of medical school.
