McKinney Vento Services

Passaic County Technical Vocational Schools is committed to supporting all families during challenging times of displacement, hardship, and homelessness. The McKinney-Vento ACT provides families with assistance through federal grants, local resources, and protects enrollment status for displaced families.

It is important to be aware that the program is eligible for families under many circumstances, including the following:

  • Temporary displacement due to fire

  • Economic hardship

  • Eviction

  • Awaiting foster care placement

  • Families who are doubled up with relatives due to loss of their home

  • Families staying in a hotel/motel

  • Students who have been placed in alternative living arrangements by state agencies

  • Living in hotels, motels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to a lack of alternative, adequate housing

  • Living in a public or private place not designated, or normally used, as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings

  • Living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar places

Families may be eligible for continued enrollment, transportation, school supplies, and/or referrals to more assistance programs to be determined during intake and ongoing check-in discussions.
